Resounding
comments from Baggeridge’s new board member
Sedgley-based
Baggeridge, the UK’s largest independent brick manufacturer,
has promoted sales director Mark Morris to the main board.
Working alongside Baggeridge’s main board, Mark, who
has worked at Baggeridge for the past 28 years, will play
an instrumental part in the ongoing commercial development
of the company.
While his appointment comes at a time which many people may
perceive to be one of uncertainty and unrest – Baggeridge’s
proposed takeover by Wienerberger, the world’s largest
producer of bricks, has been well documented over recent months
- for Mark, not only is it ‘business as usual’,
he and the company’s 550 staff are looking forward to
an exciting future. He comments: “Contrary to reports,
Baggeridge is still an independent business and one that I
am extremely proud of.
“We have a great team here - you only have to look at
our position in the market place to realise that. Everyone
is committed to developing our product range and it’s
this combination of expertise, knowledge and loyalty that
has made the business such an attractive proposition to the
world’s number one manufacturer.
“I firmly believe the future is bright for the Baggeridge
team and that there will be plenty of real opportunities for
their growth and development, whatever the outcome of the
proposed acquisition.”
Mark joined Baggeridge in 1979 as junior clerk and after 12
months progressed to sales and despatch clerk. Keen to further
his career, Mark progressed into a sales position responsible
for the South Wales and West Midlands territory and it wasn’t
long before he was promoted to sales manager and regional
sales manager. He became operation sales director in 2004.
Mark lives in Kingswinford, is married with two children and
is an avid supporter of West Bromwich Albion.
Baggeridge has also appointed Anthony Williams as a non-executive
director. A director of Building Value Ltd and non-executive
director of Prosperity Minerals Holdings Ltd, Mr Williams
had a long career in investment banking, including UBS and
Morgan Stanley, plus four years with Tarmac plc.
