The
extension of King’s Mill Hospital in Nottingham has
been facilitated by the use of Corium – Baggeridge’s
innovative clay cladding system.
King’s Mill Hospital is an acute general 600 bed hospital
which serves Ashfield, Mansfield and the surrounding areas.
Having recently undergone major renovation, the new extension
wing, constructed from Kingspan’s steel frame modular
building, now accommodates a new pathology unit. In excess
of 800 square metres of Red Sanded, Smooth Red and Blue Corium
tiles have been fitted on four elevations and also used for
intricate feature banding.
Working
within strict time constraints, the PFI project was completed
in 12 weeks and it was for this reason that Corium was specified.
Simon Hughes, Corium’s product development manager comments:
“The speed at which Corium can be fitted, which can
be up to three times quicker than traditional brickwork, means
that major construction projects such as this can be completed
in a fraction of the time.”
Corium is an innovative brick cladding system developed by
Baggeridge Brick in conjunction with Terrapin International
Ltd and Corus plc. It combines the aesthetics of traditional
natural clay brickwork with the construction benefits of fast
track cladding systems. For further information, please call
