Far from the realm
of building and construction being a man’s world, Baggeridge
Brick has recently welcomed two female area sales managers
to its team.
Sara Farbrace and Nea Barrett will be responsible for sales
in the West Midlands and Kent, Surrey and Sussex respectively,
and are already relishing the challenge.
Sara, who lives in Leicestershire, has ten years experience
within the building profession. She commented: “I’m
excited at the challenge of working for Baggeridge, it’s
an interesting time for brick manufacturers what with many
issues arising from current legislation, but brick continues
to be in high demand.”
Sara enjoys working in the manufacturing side of the business
after also experiencing working for brick factor and builder’s
merchants. She continued: “Manufacturing is where it
all starts, you have more control over what goes out to the
marketplace and I like that. Despite the traditional stigma
of the industry being male-dominated, I haven’t found
this to be an issue at all and in fact there seems to be more
female buyers on the scene too.”
Nea began her working career in recruitment but her interest
in property development soon saw her move into the construction
industry. “I’ve always been interested in building
and property”, says Nea, “and after working for
building contractors and a national builders merchant, moving
to Baggeridge has given me an opportunity to utilise this
experience with one of the UK’s leading brick manufacturers.
“I think that more and more women are seeing the attraction
of working in the building industry as there are plenty of
opportunities regardless of sex.”
Both new recruits are tasked with driving sales within their
region and with four brand new brick products set to be launched,
the orders will be coming in thick and fast. The Trinity Cream
Gilt and Trinity Cream Multi Gilt lends itself to residential
developments in the East and South East of the country, the
Light Russet Sovereign Stock has been manufactured for UK-wide
residential development , specification and refurbishment
projects while the Ochill Greystone Smooth has been developed
primarily for architectural work.
