A cutting edge project in Islington has welcomed more than
three different varieties of bricks from Baggeridge to create
a unique scheme that looks set to change the face of social
housing forever. The project was the winner of the “Best
Commercial Building” award at the prestigious Brick
Development Association (BDA) Awards in 2006.
More than 500,000 Classic Buff Multi facing bricks from Baggeridge
were used internally to construct Solihull's new shopping
and entertainment destination – Touchwood. This encompassed
all the internal brickwork as well as the underground car
parks.
The reproduction of the labyrinth within Chartes Cathedral
in the form of a circular flat maze has been completed using
a mixture of Baggeridge blue and buff cobbles, channels and
pavers for the interesting maze design, which is more than
15 m in diameter. The products were supplied by Bolton based
Hardscape Products Ltd.
A distinctive paving design in the first new public square
to be built in Newcastle for more than 100 years has been
created by Newcastle City Council using cobbles from Baggeridge.
The design featuring dolphins and waves sets off the entrance
to the new East End complex which houses a swimming pool,
fitness centre and library in the Byker area of the city.
Cobbles from Baggeridge’s clay paving range were used in red,
buff and blue to create the colourful effect, which incorporates
a well-preserved section of Hadrian’s Wall.
