Introduction

 
 

Over the past 15 years Baggeridge Brick have issued a number of environmental statements and reports at both corporate and site level as the Company has retained its position at the forefront of Environmental Management Systems within the UK clay brick manufacturing sector. Increasingly, environmental management is being broadened to encompass the wider requirements of the sustainability agenda and the Company are an active supporter of the Sustainability Strategy for the Brick Industry co-ordinated by the Brick Development Association (BDA). This strategy involves the annual publication of a series of Key Performance Indicators to which the Company are a significant contributor. The Company are represented on the British Ceramic Confederation (BCC) working party on sustainability and are also active members of other sector committees covering Environmental Management, Energy and Emissions, Land, Property and Minerals and Health and Safety. All these groups work towards the sharing of best practice in environmental management and a commitment to continual improvement in environmental performance whilst ensuring full compliance with all prevailing regulations. The Company are signatories to the British Ceramic Confederation ‘Health and Safety Pledge’ which encompasses a requirement to meet improvement objectives in related aspects of health and safety performance.
