Positive trading update and improvement scheme at the Kingsbury factory Trading Trading levels have been strong through the summer and into the final quarter of the Company's financial year ending 30th September 2003. This is particularly the case with regard to the supply of bricks for the new housing market. Indeed, the Company's largest factory, at Waresley, achieved record weekly sales during the first week of August, a notoriously fickle month for brick despatches. Kingsbury improvements A modernisation programme is planned for the older of the two tunnel kilns at the Kingsbury factory. This is a £1.2 million commitment and will take place over the coming winter months. Modifications include a small kiln extension. In order for the scheme to be completed, the present kiln will need to be de-commissioned for up to three months. Naturally, this will have a detrimental impact on factory output over the first half of our forthcoming financial year. Once completed, the project will improve factory flexibility, efficiency and profitability. |
